350th Anniversary Celebration of our Founding

May 4, 2025 was a very special day in the life of our church, when we celebrated the 350th anniversary of our founding. There was a celebratory worship service at 10:00 a.m., followed by a birthday party on the Parade Grounds.

A festive setting was prepared for the party outside, despite some wind and the threat of showers.

The worship service honored our past and our founders, yet also looked to the future with joyful anticipation.  Special guests offered greetings from the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ, preached a meaningful and interesting sermon, and offered prayers from afar.  Members of the congregation provided worship leadership as well, including the reading of some of the founding statements of the church.

The music ranged throughout our history, with hymns first written in the 1600's and closing with the contemporary anthems of our praise band.  Our youth joined with the choir to raise a joyful noise.

Following the service, everyone joined the celebration outside, with our traditional hot dogs, ice cream, and cake.  Folks lingered long at the tables, sharing wonderful conversation and fellowship.

There was a magician, and other fun for the kids, too.

This celebration was full of blessings, and we are thankful to all those who have come before us, and thankful to all who serve God today in our community.  We also thank all those who worked so hard to offer a truly special day in the life of our church.
