Join us for Adult Study and Conversation on Wednesday mornings during Lent from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse to engage in the life, faith and writings of C.S. Lewis, considered by many to be the greatest Christian writer of the 20th century.
C. S. Lewis continues to bring magic into the lives of readers young and old with his classic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia.
He is one of the most commercially successful authors. None of his thirty-eight books have ever been out of print.
We will begin our six week Lenten exploration with a documentary video, The Life, Faith and Writings of C. S. Lewis: The Magic Never Ends, which chronicles Lewis' remarkable life--his childhood in Northern Ireland and the devastating loss of his mother, the profound impact of World War I on his belief system, his acclaimed academic career at Britain's prestigious Oxford and Cambridge Universities, his storied friendship with Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien, his transition from atheist to Christian, and his late-in-life love story with his wife, Joy.
In subsequent weeks we will explore a variety of his writings, with a special emphasis on his book, Mere Christianity. A compilation of portions of his writings will be prepared for participants.
