Pastor Kathy's Farewell Sunday

July 31, 2022 was Rev. Kathy Cunliffe's final Sunday among us as our Senior Minister. She led her final worship service, and immediately following, there was a Farewell Reception and luncheon to honor her ministry, and to offer our farewells and best wishes as she transitions from her ministry at First Congregational Church to new adventures and life plans.

Due to ongoing renovations to the Sanctuary, the worship service was held in Congregational Hall...and with the hot temperatures outside, the air conditioning was welcome!  The hall was full of church members, friends and family.

Kathy offered the children a final message about courage.

Rev. Isaac Lawson, representing the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ, joined Kathy at the Communion table, and we shared a final sacramental meal together.  He, along with our Moderators, then participated in the Litany of Thanksgiving and Pastoral Release, where church and pastor are released from their covenantal relationship.

Immediately following worship, and in honor of Pastor Kathy's love for all things beachy, our reception had a beach theme, so folks were invited to dress in casual summer attire for both worship and the reception.  But no one came in a towel and bathingsuit!

A delicious luncheon was prepared and a beautiful cake was created for the occasion.

Testimonials were offered, and gifts were presented.  There were hugs of deep appreciation and thanks.

A final benediction, and a new chapter begins.  We wish Pastor Kathy every blessing in the days ahead.
